Ascalon acquires equity stakes in boutique fund managers with specialist investment expertise, that are seen to have the potential to become significant participants in the Australian funds management industry. Ascalon aims to create a portfolio of diverse fund managers with distinctive investment management styles.
Where appropriate, Ascalon also offers a number of support services to its investee boutique fund managers, ranging from marketing and business development to back office administration support.

Investment Approach
The size of Ascalon’s equity stake varies for each investment, depending on the maturity of the boutique fund manager and its capital requirements.
Ascalon appoints experienced directors to each boutique fund manager board, thereby taking an active role in the monitoring and ongoing strategic development of the business.
Due Diligence
The due diligence process involves three distinct components, namely, evaluation of investment management style, business planning (which ultimately determines the value of the business) and psychological assessment (evaluates the ability of the principals to grow a business).
